Strawberries

Now is the time to get strawberries fresh from the field.

They are the fifth most popular fruit in the US, with California and Florida being the biggest producers.

The best months for strawberries are April, May and June, depending on the weather. They are high in vitamin "C" and do not continue to ripen after being picked, so buy them right before you will need them.

Keep them refrigerated, and don't wash them until you ready to prepare them, as moisture can cause them to spoil. While strawberry shortcake is a classic, we're suggesting a lighter dish from Italy, known as Panna Cotta. Bon appetite!

Don't wash 'em until you eat 'em!
